I chose this image because I feel that it represents some of the most important parts of my heritage. This is the bust of Constantine, the roman emperor who made Catholicism the official religion of the empire. With this act he made possible the spread of Christianity through the empire and thus laid the groundwork for eventual prominence of one of the worlds great religions. Constantine represents the amalgamation of the classical world which is the bedrock of the modern western world, and the Judeo Christian religion which is inextricably joined with my European lineage.
I chose this image because it has deep significance for me. The man in the foreground is a samurai. In feudal japan samurai were the warrior retainers of feudal lords called daimyo. These men were the embodiment of valor, honor, duty, and loyalty. I hold these values dear and believe them to be of the utmost importance. In addition to the virtues personified by the samurai, this picture is significant to me because the samurai reflect my Japanese descent.
This image is significant to me because it represents the political heritage this country shares with England, a political heritage that has allowed this nation to thrive and grow to be the most powerful nation on earth. This picture is of the Houses of Parliament on the Thames, from this institution Englishmen were represented and were given a voice in governance. Our own legislatures are drawn from this basic model and from it we derive our freedoms as Americans.
This image is of Washington crossing the Delaware. It is important to me because it reflects the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of our founding fathers and the men who fought alongside them. They gave birth to a nation whose promise was unlike any the world had ever seen, and that promise lives on today. Freedom however is not free as Washington knew. I take that lesson to heart as best I can and, as a result, cherish the country I have been lucky enough to be boren into all the more.
I chose this image because I loooooooooooooove books! I read as much as I can, whenever I can. When I read, I can escape into any wolrd I so chose. Be it history (Which I also loooooooove!), or the world of fantasy, or that of science, to those who read is open the stored knowladge of all humanity. The only problem is that I spend way too much money on books, but oh well, we all have our vices......

...Istanbul was Constantinople, now it's Istanbul not Constantinopel... Sorry. Every time I hear about Constantine I think of that song. I'm sure you knew about the name changes right? I hope you take this comment light heartedly. You seem very stoic in your depiction of yourself. Have you read up about how Constantine wanted to merge his strong belief of western philosophy with his strong belief in Christ. So he had his top guys come together and had them to come up with something. They found similarities in structure of beliefs and created Catholicism. One example of this structure is the belief in the reality of hierarchy of objects. Objects existing in a truth that we cant see as ignorant humans. This is directly related to Plato's allegory of the cave. In Christianity of course the ultimate truth is God/ Christ.
